Neuroprotection refers to mechanisms and strategies that aim to protect the nervous system from injury and damage, especially in people who sustain an injury or develop a health condition that has neurological effects. Different conditions that relate to the CNS can have different symptoms, but the processes by which neurons, or nerve cells, die are often similar. Scientists currently believe that these processes include Oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammatory changes, excitotoxicity and Brain proteins.

Neurophysiology is a branch of physiology and neuroscience that is concerned with the study of the functioning of the nervous system. The primary tools of basic neurophysiological research include electrophysiological recordings. Neurodegeneration is the process of progressive loss of structure or function of neurons, including death of neurons. Many neurodegenerative diseases – including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and Huntington's – occur as a result of neurodegenerative processes.

Neurosurgery is one of the main treatment options following the diagnosis of a brain tumour. Neurosurgery is surgery performed on the brain or spinal cord. It's carried out by a highly specialised professional called a Neurosurgeon. It is important to know that neurosurgery is not always possible. If brain tumour is too close to an important part of the brain, surgery may be too risky. In this case, another treatment option will be suggested.

With any surgery, there is the risk of complications. When surgery is done near the spine and spinal cord, these complications (if they occur) can be very serious. Complications could involve subsequent pain and impairment and the need for additional surgery. State-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical tools help eliminate pain, restore functional capacity and improve quality of life.

Neurorehabilitation is a complex medical process which aims to aid recovery from nervous system injury and to minimize and compensate for any functional alteration. These include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological therapy, speech, vision therapy, and language therapy, and therapies focused on daily function and community re-integration. Development in neuroimaging techniques has greatly enhanced the scope and outcome of neurorehabilitation.

Neuroinformatics is to developing and applying computational methods to the study of brain and behaviour. Applying advanced IT methods to deal with the huge quantity and great complexity. Global Neuroinformatics market is expected to reach $1.46 billion by 2020. Neuroinformatics is a discipline within bioinformatics that conducts the organization of neuroscience data and application of computational models.

Neurogenetics studies the role of genetics in the development and function of the nervous system. The field of neurogenetics emerged from advances made in molecular biology, genetics and a desire to understand the link between genes, behaviour, the brain, and neurological disorders and diseases. Neurogastronomy research trends in nutrition, dieting, and obesity, especially the challenges that many face in having healthy food. Neurogastronomy concludes with human perceptions of smell and flavour and their relationship to the neural basis of consciousness.

Paediatric stroke is a rare condition affecting one in every 4,000 newborns and an additional 2,000 older children each year. Stroke is a type of blood vessel (cerebrovascular) disorder. Strokes can be categorized as ischemic (caused by insufficient blood flow) and hemorrhagic (caused by bleeding into the brain). When a blood vessel in the brain is injured, the brain tissue around it loses blood supply and suffers injury as well. Treatments and long-term outcome in children are different for each type.

Neuroradiology uses the techniques of neuroimaging for the direct or indirect image of the structure and function of the nervous system with the minimal invasion and Physicians who specialize in the execution and elucidation of neuroimaging in the clinical setting are known as Neuroradiologist.  Earlier, the diagnosis and identification of effective therapies for the diseases related to nervous system brain and spine were limited due to the lack of the reliable criteria for the determination of its response and progress but the assessment of the imaging techniques in the field of neurology has made it possible.

Neuroanaesthesia is one of the specialties under neurosurgery that have contributed tremendously over the years to neuroscience, yet it remained non-accredited and supported. Neuroanesthetic management is different from general anaesthesia because it can have a major effect on the brain and spinal cord through the control of blood flow, blood pressure and energy consumption of these organs.
